Partner search

Hello everyone! Today I am here to share with you my partner search and the elevator pitch I have created for you to join my collavorative project.

For the development of this project I would like to collaborate with "No me cuentes historias dibĂșjamelas" a project, which has been designed to help the students in their learning process by using visuals, infographics and visual thinking. As a way to run away from memorising and text books.

It match perfectly my project as their main objective is to draw stories to make it easier for the students to learn, in this way, my project is about students making stories for them to learn not only english but also other subjects in the second language. So I would be pleased to collaborate with them and make a real collaborative project.

To generate the elevator pitch I have done a draft to clarify my original ideas and to be sure of what I really wanted to say:

This project has helped me to know what an elevator pitch is, in case you don't kow what it is one of my classmates has explained it perfectly and you can visit her blog post here where she explained everything about it. With the elevator pitch I have learned how to synthesis information and erase all the irrelevant information, as I really wanted to catch your eye in just 20 seconds. About the tool I have used to generate the video, it was I movie, as it is a program I already know how to work with and it was easy to me to use it because I recorded the video using my ipad.

This post, as the previous one have helped me to get a better idea of what a collaborative project is, not only within the classroom but also out of it. Giving me the chance to choose the project that best matches mine to collaborate if possible. I have really appreciate it, because it has open my mind and dare to take risks.

The fllowing week I will be posting my super learning missions, so please stay tuned for more information. And thak you for reading today.

My visual metaphor

Hello again!
Today I am back with you all, to share the visual metaphor I have created to illustrate how my project is going to become a collaborative project.
Creating a collaborative project nowadais is very important to engage students, and increase their positive outcomes. For this reason three types of collaboration movements will be included in my visual methaphor:
- Collaboration within the classroom through cooperative learning:
The students will be able to learn how the scratch jr. app works through collaboration. Any doubts and problems will be written on the blackboard as well as in a drive document so that every student can see them and help solving the problem.
- Collaboration out of the classroom :
With a partner search, so that the project really becames collaborative and the students will stay connected with other classes or communities.
- Collaboration back to the classroom :
Once the students have collaborating for example generating their characters, they would be able to start using the logical connectors and do their programm which will become collaborative again once they share it.

Taken this into account I have illustrated a visual methaphor and create a layout using smore an online tool to generate beatufil newsletters. The illustration is cyclical as the project and collaboration will continue untill the students think they have already created the final and revised product.

This project has oppened my eyes in the way that I have been thinking a lot of how can I collaborate by using the project I created for the previous entry. When I realised how to do it, I learned that it is easier than I though, if the project if well planed, and you already bear in mind the activities you want to develop, if it doesn't happen it will become harder to deal with. I have also worked with smore which I have never worked with before, wich allows me to easily create a layout using my own design and including the things I have needed.
I hope you have enjoy it, and see you tomorrow with the partner search entry.

Prototyping my open educational CLIL project

Hi everyone! As I said in the previous post I was working prototyping my own educational project. And... HERE IT IS! Today's post is about my first ideas about it, for that purpose, first I have fill in a template by Perez Torres, I. That you can see filled by clicking on the link below:
Prototyping my open educational CLIL project
I have protoyped a project mainly about English and literacy, that you can use for every subject, as the tool we are going to work with in the classroom is scratch junior. This is now an app that you can get either as application or in the computer, that provides opportunities to work with almost every subject.
During the project I will be developing in the following weeks,  the idea is to make a project so that students can use the application to generate their own interactive touchbook, as they will be creating their characters, setting, plots and everyting not only in groups and indivually but also the whole class will contribute to make a beggining of the story.
To explain better my initial idea and the project I have made a video that you can see below:

For the video editting I have used Windows Movie Maker as it is a tool I already know and gives the opportunity to add the elements I need.
Prototyping my open educational CLIL project I have learned that having analysed one before is very useful to get and idea about what I want to do for mine. This project is based in the one that CREATICA and IBM have been doing for years, with first graders, teaching them how scratch junior works.
Before going, I have to thanks the owners of the images and music of the video, that are form:

Analysing an open educational project

Hi Everyone!
This week I am going to post my Open CLIL educational digital project, but for that purpose, firstly, I have analysed an open educational project from the Blog, CLILingmesoftly so that I can see what things worked and what need to be developed in order to make myself and idea about what I want.
This is a great way to start a project with your kids, by giving them a project they can analyse as a tool to start generating or creating their own ideas.
As I have followed the Buck Institute for Education's PBL standars the main analysed points are:
- Key knowledge, understanding and success skills
- Challenging Problem or Question
- Sustained Inquiry
- Authenticity
- Student Voice & Choice
- Reflection
- Critique & Revision
- Public Product

Before getting into the analysis I would recomend you to visit CLILingmesoftly were I found the open educational project called CLIL Presentation strings, which is a power point about string instruments for the music lesson.

Key knowledge, understanding and succes skills:
The project is focus on teaching knowledge, extending the Teacher Talking Time and the students are not asked to use their critical thinking, solve problems, collaborate or doing self-management. Content, is the main point of the presentation as not only the explanation, but also the activities are about it.

Challenging problem or question:
This project is not based on a problem or question to answer, as it is just for the students to memorise and learn content, but it would become a different project with questions to answer if we change the methodology and give our students time to think by themselves. In the introduction of the Violin we can also read "No WHY'S from the pupils" by doing this, of course, from my point of view, the pupils' attention will be reduce, and it won't be engaging.

Sustained inquiry
This project last two lessons, depending on the regional educational progame this can be more or conversely less, but it is true to say that in two lessons the students won't be able to generate questions, and even less to find and use resources by themselves or develop their own answers.  In the opposite way we need to take into account that the projects you can find in the blog are suppose to be "small-scale projects meant to be seen as first stabs"

Authenticity
The project has a real-world context it brings realia to the classroom and uses real-world processes and tools, as it shows different ways to connect the real violin, not only with the sound it makes, but also with instruments with similar characteristics.

Student voice and choice
The project does not allow students to make some choices about the products they create as they are not creating materials, their are reproducing what they have learned.

Reflection
The project does not provide opportunities for students to reflect on what and how they are learning, and on the project’s design and implementation.

Critique and revision
The project includes a worksheet for students to give and receive feedback on their work, in order to know if they have learned the different parts of the violin in English and German.

Public product
The students are just required to fill the gaps, they have a Worksheet to work on and they are asked to know what they have learned during the previous lesson, there is no mark-up from the students creating their own product basing their ideas on what they have learned before.

You can also see the presentation I have made about it using genial.ly a grat tool to create presentations online by clicking on the link below:
https://www.genial.ly/58cad3a3233bc31290247bed/analysing-the-strings-open-educational-project

Or whatching the embedded presentation.

In conclusion, from my point of view, this is not a CLIL unit. Analysing it, the problem is that I see the project as a whole, and maybe it is just an introduction about string struments that will be delevoped later on. What is is true to say is that the L1 predominates, or at least that is what I have appreciate and makes the change the to the second language more difficult.

What I have learned by analysing it, is that in my own educational project which I will try to upload this week, the students need to be asked and to make deeper connections by using the critical thinking, but also that realia is important as they have a better idea than when talking about abstract things. Even when the project I have analysed do not meet most of the requirements I am very thankfull as it has helped me to realise what I really want to focus on, and what really matters.

Introducing Maider, an activity to introduce classmates

Hi Everypone, today I would like to share with you a great way to get to know your classmates or a good activity you can carry out in class for your students to meet each other. As part of our ICT subject we are introducing our classmates, but this is an activity you can easily do with your students, so that they can introduce their peers working in pairs.

This is Maider, a student from Pamplona. This year, she is studing the Master with me, but the prevoius year she got a Degree in Early Childhood Education, and she is also a P.E. teacher.

In order to make the flipped introductions' video, we first opened a google drive document, were we wrote the main questions, and our personal answers. In our case the main points we decided to talk about were:
- Introduction: with the name, the birthplace and the actual ocupation
- Studies we have already achieve
- Favourite activities in the world
- Our dream ocupation if we weren't teachers.
- Expectations or future plans
- Persona site or blog.
After deciding the main points or topics to talk about we got into the main point which actually was recording the audio and creating the video.
For that purpose I used Powtoon a free tool to create animated videos and presentations, were you can also record your own voice or also, your classmate voice, once this is finished, powtoon gives you the option to upload it directly on your youtube channel if you have one.

And this is the final result:

Selfreflection on the leaning I have acquired by doing this activity:
Through this activity we are able to use new tools such as Powtoon (the one I used). But also is a good way to know more about our classmates, meanwhile developing our listening and speaking skills.

I hope you've liked it and have had a good time with this post.
Thank you for reading please don't forget to follow Maider's blog to see her flipped introduction of myself and I hope to see you soon on my next post.
